This is true, yet he is not proclaiming that the Roman Catholic Church is the harlot church of Revelation 17. What the papal church of the Popes teach is contrary to Scripture and antichrist. Romanism is pagan god worship with a veneer of the Scriptural faith.
Roman Catholic priests wear purple and scarlet, and use the golden cup during the blasphemous eucharist ceremony, which symbolically sacrifices Messiah again for sins.

Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries points to Pergamum as seat of Satan.
He fails to see that the seven churches in Revelation 2-3 are seven church eras, and that the church era of Pergamos which existed from 313-583 AD witnessed Constantine and the Roman bishops codifying the false religion of Romanism.

Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries points to Semiramus of the Babylonian Mystery Religion.
He points out the pagan immaculate conception of Semiramis which created the incarnate christ-child Tammuz, who was killed by boars at age forty, so she mourned for forty days, which matches the Catholic forty days of lent.
Yet he fails to see that Revelation 17 describing the harlot church of the antichrist beast Popes, who symbolically carries out the Babylonian Mystery Religion during her ceremonies, which is why she is called ‘Mystery, Babylon the Great.’

Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries says that Constantine combined paganism with Christianity.
It’s great that he understands this deception, but he fails to connect it with the prophecy in 2 Thessalonians 2 in which the Apostle Paul foretold a time of ‘falling away’ from the Scriptural faith.
After centuries of harsh persecution, many compromised their faith and joined with the church of Rome.

It has nothing to do with the antichrist or the end times.
Most of the prophecies in Revelation have been fulfilled in exacting detail during the last 1,900 years. It describes the historical narrative of the Satan-empowered leaders of the Roman beast kingdom (pagan Emperors > antichrist beast Popes > false prophet Jesuit Superior Generals) fighting against Messiah and His saints.
The explanations of Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries serve to deflect blame away from the enemy in Rome, and to mislead the end-times saints so that they’re not prepared for how the end-times will play out, and don’t know the context of Messiah’s return.

It’s important to actually watch the videos DTBM has put out about the Papacy before claiming false teaching. He has exposed them a great deal with history, Scripture an documentation.
Exposing the papacy for false teachings is not the same thing as proclaiming that the office of the papacy, the Popes of Rome, fulfill Bible prophecy as the ‘little horn’ of Daniel 7, the ‘son of perdition’ of 2 Thessalonians 2, and the ‘beast’ of Revelation 13, who leads the ‘harlot’ church of Rome.
He assigns the 70th week of Daniel 9 to the future! He assigns Messiah’s Olivet Discourse to the future! He assigns 2 Thessalonians 2 to the future! He teaches that most of the prophecies in Revelation are fulfilled during the last 3 1/2 years.

To be fair, that may be what you think, but it may not actually play out that way. I believe the Harlot includes all of the religious institutions of this world who have left off the true Gospel and Word of God, and have become corrupted by the world system that they have let in along with their sins and demons. The World Council of Churches and every mainstream denomination has been infiltrated and run by Freemasons/Luciferians. You are only repeating what you’ve been taught. I suggest you read these studies which prove it out verse by verse, because the enemy has misled the end-times church so that they’re not prepared for how the end-times plays out or for Messiah’s return.

This statement is absolutely correct! The 70th week was fulfilled immediately after the 69th. No time prophecy can be butchered up like Dispensationalism has this one and still remain true. You can’t arbitrarily add a 2000(+) year gap in Daniel’s 490 year prophecy and still claim Daniel didn’t miss the mark! His prophecy was either of God and fulfilled in the first century, 490 years after its starting point, or Daniel was a false prophet and his prophecy false! You CANT Have it both ways!

Regarding the church of Pergamos, you’re making a false association, as I’ve not proclaimed that the seven churches didn’t exist when Messiah wrote Revelation.
Each letter has instructions from Messiah which applied to the saints when John wrote Revelation, and for the saints of any generation.
But the letters have a primary application to the seven church eras, as Messiah is describing what the saints face as they battle against the Roman beast kingdom. We see this played out during the Smyrna church era which endured harsh persecution for ten years (10 prophetic days) from 303-312 AD, when Emperor Diocletian sought to wipe Messiah’s Ekklesia of saints out.
We see the promise of the Morning Star to the church era of Thyatira, which was fulfilled by John Wycliffe who translated the Scriptures into English. He was called the Morning Star of the Reformation. This was needed as the antichrist beast popes banned and burned the Scriptures during the dark ages.
We see the glorious church era of Philadelphia when missionaries were spreading around the world proclaiming the Gospel, and Bible Societies were distributing the little book of Revelation 10, the printed Bible, around the world. This is why Messiah had no bad thing to say about them.
Sadly, we live in the end-times church era of Laodicea, when many have been blinded by the enemy’s false preterist and futuristic prophecy fulfillment explanations.
Proclaiming that Messiah was just writing to the first century churches is the error.

Hi David, I believe John is correct regarding future fulfillment. You of course are entitled to your opinion based on what you think you know about Scripture. But these are not salvation issues so we should agree to disagree without being disagreeable.
Chris, the studies on the website prove out the historical fulfillment of most of the prophecies in Revelation during the last 1,900 years, which proves that the futuristic explanations are wrong. Teaching the truth and exposing the deceptions isn’t being disagreeable, it’s fighting the good fight as it validates the deity of Messiah who foretold the prophecies 1900 years ago. And it helps the saints be prepare for Messiah’s return.

My charge against Dr. John Barnett is justified as he is misleading people about prophecy fulfillment. If you understood the historicist narrative of prophecy, you would not have written what you did, because you would know I’m correct.
