The Messianic Prophecy of Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel

This Revelation Timeline Decoded post features the prophecy of Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel, which points to a Messiah age in 2017.

He was one of the fathers of Chassidei (Hassidic Judaism), a movement of Jewish mysticism in Germany different than Rabbi Lurias Kabbalistic mysticism, where the Chassids emphasized strong moral ethics and prayer.

Prophecy of Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel

According to his pupils Rabbi Isaac ben Moses (Vienna), Rabbi Baruch ben Samuel (Mainz) and Rabbi Simcha (Speyer), Rabbi Judah the Pious was a model in his role of strict abstinence selflessness and of service to other. His burning desire was awaiting the coming of the Messiah.

It was in the year of 1217 CE that one of Judah’s most legendary and prolific German Hassidic rabbis made an astounding prediction about the future of Jerusalem and the coming of the Messiah.

Rabbi Judah ben Samuel began publishing his biblical calculations called the Gematria, plus his astronomical observations a gave us this summary which we can read today.

“When the Ottomans (Turks) – who were already a power to be reckoned with on the Bosporus in the time of Judah Ben Samuel – conquer Jerusalem they will rule over Jerusalem for eight jubilees. Afterwards Jerusalem will become no-man’s land for one jubilee, and then in the ninth jubilee it will once again come back into the possession of the Jewish nation – which would signify the beginning of the Messianic end time.”

According to Leviticus 25, one Jubilee period is 50 years in which the 50th year, each person will regain ownership of his or her tribal lands. As Rabbi Judah the Pious looked into the future, he was postulating theoretical calculations, which today are showing them to be amazingly accurate. It would be over 300 years after his death that his first prediction would become true.

During the Roman Christian Crusades, the Mamluk began their reign in Jerusalem in the year of 1250 CE when the last Ayyubid Sultan of Egypt, Turanshah was assassinated by his Mamluk slave General Aibek. Aibek then founded the Mamluk Bahri dynasty. They held power over Jerusalem until they were conquered by the Ottoman Turks in the year of 1517, three hundred years after the death of Rabbi Judah ben Samuel.

Then the prophecy continues when it states; “Afterwards Jerusalem will become no-man’s land for one jubilee.”

Is it not amazing that from the year of 1917 when the British Mandate controlled the city of Jerusalem, Jerusalem did become under international law a “no-man’s land for one jubilee”.

It was fifty years after that year in 1917, that the Israeli army captured the city of Jerusalem in the Six Day War on June 17, 1967.

Exactly one Jubilee, 50 years later, Jerusalem returned for the first time to the control of the Jewish-Israeli ownership since the day when Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 CE.

When he was asked where he received his wisdom from, his answer was:

Rabbi Judah ben Samuel – “The prophet Elijah, who will precede the Messiah, appeared to me and revealed many things to me and emphasized that the precondition for answered prayer is that it is fueled by enthusiasm and joy for the greatness and holiness of God.”

This leaves one more Jubilee, the tenth Jubilee since the Ottoman Turks took control of Jerusalem and the Land of Promise in the years of 1517. According to this Jewish sage, the end of this tenth Jubilee will “signify the beginning of the Messianic end time.”

The 10th Jubilee ends in 2017.

Is this a vision that was given by the enemy, to cause Jews to expect their promised Messiah in 2017?

If so, it effectively deflects the truth about Messiah, who already appeared in the 70th week of Daniel; to ratify the everlasting covenant with His blood as the Passover Lamb.

All of the major religions are expected their Messiah to return soon:

Jews are awaiting their promised Messiah; but that is misguided, as He already appeared on time, during the 70th week of Daniel.

Muslims are awaiting their Mahdi, in the false religion of Islam.

Christians are waiting for their supposed secret rapture, before the supposed 7-year tribulation period.

It will be interesting to see how the enemy uses those expectations to deceive all of the above people groups.

  1. Have you read the book of Galatians. What impact would the Law have on the age of grace? Are not Jubelees a part of the law? There is way too much Jewish/Talmud and Rabbi influence on Christian theology and eschatology today. Mark what Apostle Paul thought of the Pharasse and by extension Rabbinic traditions of men.
    Philippians 3:4-8 KJVS
[4] Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: [5] Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; [6] Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. [7] But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. [8] Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Keep in mind that the bulk of New Testament epistles was written to a Gentile audience. Salvation went from the Jews to the Gentiles in the last chapter of Acts, Acts 28:28. What value does the ministration of death, 2 Co 3:9, and even worse Talmud doctrines and prophecies have in regards to the Spirit. Did the Rabbi you mention receive the Holy Ghost? Was he part of the promise seed? So what spirit do you think gave him the prophecy? And does it have any value to those in the body of Christ?

    • Luke, I’m not sure what spirit gave him the prophecy. Since he didn’t profess the Son as His Messiah, he didn’t have a covenant relationship with the Father, so it would not seem that he had the Spirit of the Father guiding him.

I am in no way supporting the Rabbi’s beliefs, but I find that the timing of how his prophetic vision is playing out is quite interesting.

Sadly, the enemy has caused Jews to seek a future coming of Messiah; rather than read Isaiah, Daniel, and the New Testament; to find the true Messiah.

      • Scripture is 100% TRUTH. For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye: 9“Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. 10Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD. 11And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. 12And the LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.”

Those who do not believe Adonai Elohim, the G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob that Israel is beloved by G-d Teach ERROR.

Those that believe the “church” has replaced Isreal are heaping coals of judgment on their heads.

G-d is going to REDEEM Israel and they will KNOW Yeshua was/is their promised Messiah. 7“And the LORD will give salvation to the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not surpass that of Judah. 8On that day the LORD will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the LORD, going before them. 9And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

        Him Whom They Have Pierced

10“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. 11On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad-Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.

Both verses are found in Zechariah. They are PROPHETIC In that they HAVE NOT YET HAPPENED yet.

  2. hey david,
regarding the source of post revelation “prophecies”, i believe it’s important to look at the recipients of the message to help understand whether or not it comes from Yah.
like the above rabbi or people like alistair crowley, these messages were intended for a specific audience, just like the book of revelation. unlike revelation though, these messages were not intended for Yah’s followers!
it’s only in these latter days where there is the “increase of knowledge” that we have access to this info. it helps to remember that the god of this world is satan and we should recognize his workings in a broader spectrum.
what i love about YHWH’s word is that it really acts like a spiritual compass when there is any doubt if something comes from Him or not! it supercede’s what people “feel” is from God, or “think” is his will or not and thus keeps the True follower of Christ on the narrow path.

hope all is well bro… i sent you an email as well.
    Yah bless!

    • Hey George, I posted this prophecy to help people understand what the Jews are expecting, not because I believe that it came from Yah. I did not receive an email. Yah bless you!

      • yes i understand the reason you posted it. i was just pointing out that many false prophets’ predictions have come true over the last few centuries and i believe this is also another trick the deceiver uses to deceive people and keep them away from God’s word. i’ve seen this so many times and there was even a time in my own life when i thought these things might be from God.

  3. to the ones that dont believe,or even have doubts, wait a little while, soon you will see what is to be come to pass, and surely,it will, for the timing of this being revealed is also pretty mindblowing, something else to consider, the time span from 1217 to present? is it not fullfilling the first time period also?jesus did speak of there being 120 years and then the next generation will see his ways made clear.so,just remember this, that is,for the ones that doubt even a little bit,the timing and proof of what is meant to happen, will, and it will take the sceptics as jesus said there would be,to actually see what was said was truth

  4. Prophecy is probably not the best descriptor for what Judah ben Samuel did. He was a brilliant man whose focus of Torah study in part, was the study of Gematriyot which some INCORRECTLY attribute it to numerology. Many of the ancient languages place a numeric value with the letters of their alphabet. In Latin X is 10
Greek does this as well as Hebrew.

It is NOT Judah ben Samuel making prophetic predictions, it is G-d revealing IN SCRIPTURE these things. Judah ben Samuel merely wrote down what scripture revealed to him. If you understand the Jewish understanding of the known layers of the revelation of scripture this is no surprise.

Peshat – this is the simple or plain meaning or the direct meaning. The literal principal. Grammatical-historical sense.

Remez – or the deep (allegoric: hidden or symbolic) meaning beyond just the literal sense.

Derash – the comparative (midrashic) meaning, as given through similar occurrences.

Sod – “secret” (mystery) or the mystical meaning, as given through inspiration or revelation.

An excellent example of Sod is the meanings of the names of Adam to Noah:

    1. Adam: (means) Man
    2. Seth: Appointed
    3. Enos: Mortal
    4. Cainan: Sorrow, Thorn, Nest
    5. Mahalaleel: (as in Hallelujah) The Blessed God
    6. Jared: Shall Come Down
    7. Enoch: Initiator, Teacher
    8. Methuselah: (Math-Shelach) Math: Extend, Full Length, Adult + Selah: It Shall Come
    (Heb.) Shelah: Send out, Shoot, Missile, Spear, Attack;
When He Dies It Shall Come, or His Death Shall Bring.
    9. Lamech: (as in lament, Lamentations) Despairing
    10. Noah: Rest or Comfort – As in Salvation

When put together these names state the following: (As) Man (is) Appointed Mortal Sorrow, The Blessed God Shall Come Down (to) Initiate (and) Teach (that) His Death Shall Bring (the) Despairing Rest and Comfort.
Which is the entire message of Salvation
