Revelation 7 Sealing of the 144,000 Of Revelation 7

This Revelation Timeline Decoded Bible study focuses on the sealing of the 144,000 of Revelation 7.

Here’s a short summary of the fulfillment of the 7th seal of Revelation 8, followed by a verse by verse explanation. It represents the Lord sealing His servants before He sounds the 7 trumpets of judgment against the Pagan Roman Empire.

Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.” Revelation 7:3

The upcoming trumpet judgments pertain to the Roman earth, the sea and the trees, so before God sends army after army against the pagan Roman Empire, He is sealing His people so that they are not harmed.

And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.” Revelation 7:4

144,000 is a symbolic number, reflecting the 12 tribes. God uses the number 12 as an organization number, 12 tribes, 12 disciples.

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;”” Revelation 7:9

We are not to think that God only marked and protected 144,000.  John tells us that there was a great multitude that no man could number.

And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Revelation 7:13-14

These are the martyrs who were killed by the Roman Empire.  There were 10 persecution periods under Rome, the most severe was the last 10 years, from 303-312 A.D., which the era of the Church of Smyrna endured.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” Revelation 2:10

  1. Here’s a short summary of the fulfillment of the 7th seal of Revelation 8, followed by a “verse by verse” explanation.
You passed over verses 1 and 2, verses 5-8, and 10-12. Why? Compare REV 7:1-7:8 and REV 14:1-14:5 side by side and you will see the harmony of these verses. Also “The Trumpets and Vials” have a perfect “harmony”. The “Trumpets and Vials” (bowls) are the same thing, the “Trumpet” sounds in “Heaven and “Vial” is poured out on “earth”. Place REV 8:7-9:21 and REV 16:1-12 side by side and you will see the harmony of the first 6 “Trumpets and Vials”. Place REV 11:15-19 and REV 16:17-21 side by side and you will see the harmony of the 7th “Trumpet-Vial” God Bless! Sincerely, Donald M. Agsten

  2. You are talking about the sealing of 144,000 and the bible clearly states that it is 12,000 of each of the tribes of Israel.
I love the history that you are bringing out and obviously put a lot of work into this but I think if the Bible says a 144,000, 12,000 of each tribe were sealed then there does not need to be an interrpation, it is very straight forward

  3. From the way I’m understanding it the 144,000 are the first fruits… which the apostles were the last of the first fruits… These are the prophets that were prophesying about Yahshua and the remnants that our father had chosen from Israel that were righteous to YHWH. The multitude are those after Yahshua until the second coming… I really like a lot of what you’re saying. Im not trying to correct you or go against you. If you think I’m wrong then let me know. Thanks and blessings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Yahshua. The Son of YHWH.

    • Marcus, the 144,000 represents the saints being marked/sealed for protection before the Lord sounds the 7 trumpets of judgment against the Pagan Roman Empire; as the saints lived in the territories which were about to be attacked for foreign armies.

  4. Some see the 144000 as it is said from the tribes of Israel which they are. But the Israel it is talking about, while jesus opened up to the gentiles too, is spiritual Israel. Not to mention, who are these israelites these days anyway. The 144000 are a chosen or elected few who will rule with christ. One must not get confused between the body of christ, and as some has said to me…. We are all saints because we are Christian… That is not true. These 144000 are as it says elected for a special purpose.
