This Revelation Timeline Decoded Bible study focuses on the iron-clay feet of the statue in Daniel 2.
Summary: Islam and the Muslims represent the clay of the iron clay feet of the statue in Daniel 2. The iron, the Roman Catholic Church, helped Mohammed write the Qur’an and be revered as the prophet of Islam. Mohammed’s wife and cousin were Catholics who had great influence on him.
The Roman Catholic Church did this to use Muslims to kill Christians and Jews, to protect Catholics, and to capture Jerusalem. But the Muslims kept Jerusalem for themselves and sought to conquer more land, so they don’t mix well, and they have battled during the Crusades.
Daniel 2 describes a statue with iron legs, which represents the Roman Empire.
Satan used the Roman Empire to try to wipe out the early church, killing millions of saints. The Lord exacted vengeance against it by causing the Roman Empire to collapse from within, from civil wars and excessive taxation; and from without, when the Lord sent army after army against it.
The last Roman Emperor was removed in 476 AD, and Satan responded by empowering the Roman Catholic Church to rise to power in their place.
The Popes took the title of the Roman Emperors, Pontifex Maximus, as the head of the church and state, healing the deadly head wound. The Roman Catholic Church didn’t have an army, so they used other people groups, the clay of Daniel 2, to wage war for them.
The statue has feet made of iron/clay, which tells us that the Roman beast would mingle with other people groups, to battle against the kingdom of Christ.
Daniel 2:41-43 “the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.“
The Bible is its own dictionary, so we need not speculate about the meanings.
The Strong’s Hebrew word for both “mixed” and “mingle” is 6151 “arab”.
The word ‘arab’ in Daniel 41, 43 is not found anywhere else; because the passage in Daniel was originally written in Aramaic, which is very closely related to Hebrew.
But when we do a word study, we can see that the Aramaic 6151 ‘arab’ corresponds to Hebrew words that describe the mixing of the Arab race.
Aramaic 6151 arab corresponds to Hebrew 6148 arab – is a primative root, meaning ‘to braid, to intermix’
Hebrew 6150 arab is a primitive root identical with 6148.
Hebrew 6152 arab is derived from 6150, and it signifies the land of Arabia.
Hebrew 6154 ereb is derived from 6148, and signifies a ‘web of cloth’, also a mixture (or mongrel race), and especially the people of Arabia, a ‘mingled people’ or ‘mixed multitude’.
Hebrew 6163 arabee is derived from 6152, and signifies ‘an Arab or inhabitant of Arabia’.
Abraham mingled with the Egyptian handmaiden Hagar to produce the Arab race through the twelve tribes of Ishmael.
This fulfilled the Father’s promise to Hagar that they would become a great nation. The Israelites were the clay in the Father’s hands, the Ishmaelites were the miry clay that came from Abraham’s seed.
Smith’s Bible Dictionary also states that “Arab” and “mixed” are related terms and ideas:
Arabia cannot be held to have a more extended signification than the Hebrew equivalents in the Old Testament. (a) ‘erb’ (Exo 12:38; Neh 13:3) and ‘erb’ (1Ki 10:15; Jer 25:20, 50:37; Eze 30:5), rendered in the AV “a mixed multitude” (Exo 12:38), here followed by ‘rb’, ‘the mixed multitude,’ kings of ‘Arabia’ so in Vulgate, and in Hebrew in corresponding passage in 2Ch 9:14, and (in the last two instances) ‘the mingled people,’ have been thought to signify the Arabs.
We can clearly see the relationship of these words, which are pointing to the mixed race of the Arabs. You can read more about this @ http://www.christadelphianbooks.org/agora/art_less/a29.html
The iron of the Roman Popes mixed with an unlikely group of people, the Arabs; to use them as their army, to carry out their agenda.
- The Roman Catholic Church helped Mohammed become the leader of the Arabs.
- They helped him write the Qur’an, with beliefs that are very similar to Catholicism.
- They financed the Arabs to kill Jews and Christians, and to capture Jerusalem.
The clay represents the Arabs, who became the great Ottoman Empire, who worked with the Roman Catholic Church, to control the lands previously held by the Roman Empire.
They both killed Christians and Jews, but they have also warred with each over possession of Jerusalem and other territories, which led to the Crusades where they fought against each other, as they don’t mix well.

Hi David. In Daniel 2 41-43 it says mixed and mingled with the seed of men. If it is just about the Arabs, then what about the seed of men, as in seed of mankind? I took it to be mixing with not just the Arabs, but also the seed of men, people’s and other nations of the world before Messiah(the stone) smashes and destroys the feet and sets up his kingdom. But I’m no expert in history, so mYbe there has been an ongoing love hate “partnership” through the centuries that I don’t know about.
Your site is awesome, it really opened my eyes. I always felt that we were living in the laodicean age with the church being wealthy, lukewarm and delusional, but I just didn’t know how exactly thr whys and hows because I didn’t understand the historical events of past church ages.
So what should and can we do as believers in today’s laodicean church age?
Thank you for your comment Peter 🙂 The iron represents the Roman part, the Roman Catholic Church. The clay represents the Muslims. The Roman Catholic Church helped write the Qur’an and prop up the illiterate Mohamed as their leader. They both have killed Jews and the saints. They both have conquered territory once held by the Roman Empire. But they have also battled over territory, especially Jerusalem.

I’m blessed to know that the studies have helped you. As for today’s Laodicean Church age, I believe that we should do the same thing as the Protestant Reformers did, proclaim that faith in Messiah’s atoning work is the only way of salvation; and proclaim that the Popes and Jesuit Generals of Rome are the enemy of Messiah and His Church. I would add that we need to teach the truth of prophecy fulfillment, as to expose the deceptions of the enemy, to remove their power.
Keep learning and growing in the faith!
David
Hello dearest sibling in Christ. As helpful as your studies have been, it is my sincerest concern that many theories contradict Scriptural patterns, history, and even adhere to 7th Day Adventism teaching – a movement which has brought much heresy to the body of Christ.
Scripturally speaking, God has often foreshadowed Christ Himself with… Well, men of Christ. Not systems or offices of Christ, but literal men of Christ, in any office or system; chosen and anointed vessels for His will. Offices of Christ were foreshadowed with offices. But the Messiah was foreshadowed with messiahs ( anointed ones ). And the anti-Christ type was present from the OT period, too! Look at Pharoh VS. Moses, Haman VS. Esther, Daniel and his friends vs. Nebuchadnezzar, etc. Even Herod. VS. Christ Himself! God always has a pattern to show off His personality, to authenticate His doings, and to teach us His ways. Any change would simply be unlike Him! The OT is FULL of foreshadows for the NT. So I highly doubt the Pope and his office is the AC… An AC type is more likely. I do agree that we, as Christians, have more responsibility to identify the “many antichrists,” as John put it, though.
As for history, it seems that your study is contradicted by the fact that the Ostrogoths came back with a vengeance against the Roman Catholics in the cited dates – and won! Also, FIVE tribes were uprooted, not three. I don’t think God would allow those two mistakes. That would simply be unlike Him. Even when Medo-Persia invaded Babylon, they did so entirely in one night.
And lastly… 7th Day Adventism doctrines should be examined for their roots. Much of it is heresy and far from truth. Its father, William Miller, made many mistakes regarding prophecy. As a consequence, Christ lost many people. Please, please test every finding with sources in AND out of the church, church movements and their teachers. Hold them up against the Word and actual historical sources ( I fear many cults and sects have bias ). We must learn to identify our Father’s personality and what our Lord allows or disallows, lest we be led astray.
God bless you!
