The First Bowl Of Revelation 16

This Revelation Timeline Decoded Bible study focuses on the 1st Bowl of Revelation 16.

Summary: The 1st Bowl was poured out when the Jesuits caused the foul and loathsome sore of atheism to spread across France. The French Protestants had been killed, so the Catholic religion was all that was left. And the Lord allowed the abomination of atheism to corrupt the French people, to turn them away from the Papal Church, which led to the bloody French Revolution.

In Horae Apocalypticae, an eschatological study written in the 19th century by Edward Bishop Elliott, he saw the fulfillment of the Apocalyptic symbol in “that tremendous outbreak of social and moral evil, of democratic fury, atheism, and vice, which characterized the French Revolution.”

Isaiah 1:4-7 describes the tribe of Judah as corrupted and full of putrifying sores:

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.”

Revelation 16:1-2, Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.” So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.

It’s still referring to the Roman Earth, which the Roman Catholic Church now controlled.

And the country of France was called the First Born Son of the Papacy, as the king and Catholics revered Him as their leader.

The Pope commanded the King of France to have his Catholic army and subjects persecute and kill the Protestants in the country.

Having the mark of the beast meant that you revered the Pope (forehead) and that you obeyed the Pope (right hand)

France was equally split between Catholics and Protestants, but after the French persecuted the saints, there was practically none left in the country, as they had either escaped or were killed.

Some of the best people who contributed to the great country of France were now gone.  The salt of the land that had preserved it, had been cast out.

What would America be like if you removed all of the Christians?  It would descend into great apostasy to be sure. That is what happened to France.

The Jesuits used people like French poet, dramatist and historian Voltaire, to guide the minds of the French in philosophy, as to cause them to throw off the chains of all religions.

Those who an make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities. Voltaire

His writings caused France to enter an age of reason, who became their god.  Voltaire was the leader of the Enlightenment. He declared that the Bible was false, and this so was the Catholic Church

Add to this that the French people had witnessed the wholesale slaughter of the Huguenots, which shook their faith in the Papal Church.

On August 26, 1792, the denial of God in France “was for the first time formally established by law.”

This law declared that there were no God, setting up the overthrow of the Catholics.

Faber saw in the delusive spirit of atheism which had swap in the Revolution the darkest form of Antichristian apostasy; that of the open and blasphemous denial of the Father, and of the Son.*

The Jansenists; a Jesuit-led society utterly corrupt in morals, and literature propagated infidelity, and sowed the seeds of revolution.

The country fell into total apostasy, as the plague of infidelity and immorality, like an ulcerous core, covering the nation from head to foot.

This caused them to seek liberty from any religious institution, and they turned on the Roman Catholic Church.

The result, which is explained in the next few bowls of judgment, resulted in mighty Catholic nation of France, to be thrown into a civil war, which was deluged with the blood of the leaders, the Catholic priests and many Catholics.

From France as the centre, it spread like a plague, through its affiliated societies, to the other countries of Papal Christendom.

Quotes From Our Forefather’s

Writing in 1813 A.D., Cunninghame says that atheism and anarchy were chief blotches in the dreadful plague.*

In the early 18th century, historicist Flemming wrote two vital works. They are called ‘The Apocalyptic Key‘ and ‘The Rise and Fall of the Papacy‘.

Based on the date of 533 A.D., he said that exactly 1,260 years later we could expect to see God pouring out his “Vials” of judgment upon the Latin kingdom of Europe. He said it must begin in 1793-94. He went further and said that if the judgments didn’t start in Italy, they would start in France, the eldest daughter of the papacy. And that was absolutely precise.*
